Living the Dream!

Above my bookshelf, this sign “Living the Dream” stands as a reminder for me not to quit! Just like you, I dreamed as a child. I had several dreams actually and they included being a Teacher, an Author and a Professional dancer! I could see my name in lights and I could hear the applause as I laid on my back looking up at the clouds. One day it all ended...

Life itself has a way of drowning your dreams! Kids, spouses, jobs, sickness, accidents etc as life unfolds, the childhood dreams we enjoyed fade away. I’ve got good news though, just because you’ve gotten older and life may have dealt you a rough hand to play, your dream doesn’t have to DIE.

I had always dreamed of teaching, I would teach the neighborhood kids how to read, write and do math daily. I wanted nothing more than to have my own classroom and student to pour knowledge into but a college internship sent me running in the opposite direction. I was discouraged-I quit pursuing that degree and my dream died. I started pursuing other things but eventually my life came right back to TEACHING 😉 I couldn’t escape it! That’s the good thing about dreams, they are relentless.

I tapped into my Gift of writing and started to learn how to write a book. I wrote plays, skits, newsletters, mini novels, anything I saw, I wrote about. My passion for writing was as deep as my passion for teaching. I learned in this journey that I didn’t have to pick eithe or, I could combine the two. So I started writing books that taught people how to do things!!

I firmly believe that your “gifts” are connected to your DREAM. If I hadn’t discovered my gift of writing, I wouldn’t have become the Best Selling Author that I am today.
