Well hello there! Not sure if you heard, but it's officially "the holidays". For me those two words bring sheer delight and joy, but for others...not so much! We all have different pasts and even present moments so the HOLIDAYS can be different for us all. I'd like to take a moment to invite you to a NEW Holiday Season.... I recently had the opportunity to watch a hilarious comedy about 3 moms trying to save Christmas.!! The movie was centered around all the "stress" of the holidays that moms cave up under. Now I'll be the first to admit that at some point in the Holiday season, I'm searching endlessly for that perfect gift, standing in fifteen different lines for my kids and thinking of ways to pull my hair out without it being noticed 😂😂. Stress can find us all at any point on any given day, in particular a Holi-DAY! (See what I did there. ) I have learned after about ten Holiday seasons that t doesn't have to be stress filled and overwhelming at all. I found a NEW Holiday season! It's the months BEFORE the Holidays kickoff that have saved my life and Holiday spirit. Yes I shrugged my shoulders at my mother in law, years ago, when she advised me to prepare for the season AHEAD of time. I just knew I could pull off a great Holiday in a week...NOT!!! So here's what I learned from my past mistakes and I pray somewhere in this post you find encouragement, strength and Joy in celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas. #1 Making time with God...in the intentional times with God, he showed me the importance of Celebration (yes it's biblical). He showed me the simple joy in coming together with family, friends and even neighbors 😮and no....the circumstances don't have to be perfect! Just simply come together and enjoy being with each other. #2 Be realistic...ok so I'll be the first to admit that I publicly dream of a White Christmas's by the fireside telling stories and drinking cocoa (I day dream too often!) but in reality my husband forgot to buy the wood for the fireplace, some weird weather pattern sent us 95degree weather for Christmas and I lost my voice on Christmas Eve-no perfect story to read to my kids!! Things happen, plans go wrong and guess what..it's all okay and not the END of a great celebration. Use all the drama and mishaps for great conversation during the Holiday season. #3 No money, no gifts...Yes I've been there just like you. Having no cash for the Holidays can be depressing but it doesn't have to be .Even with no gifts -no money for decorations etc my family has still found great ways to Celebrate the Holidays (I share those ideas in my Holiday Guide, feel free to snag one) I strongly encourage you that if your connected to step 3 the most, pray and believe for a Holiday miracle. I've had 2 or 3 miracles during the tough times of a Holiday season that literally brought me to tears. My friend, trust me as I shout these three words to you GOD IS ABLE!!!! No matter what your facing this Holiday season, I want to encourage you to find reasons and TIME to come together and celebrate! Make new friends, greet people in the stores, post positive stats and take silly pictures with your family. Above all, PRAY more! Conquer all the negativity that the enemy tries to pour over your joyful celebrations. Remember, we don't fight against flesh and blood, we fight in the spirit so TAKE DOWN the enemy in prayer and take back your Holidays. Be bold as a lion and be public about your Joy, it's contagious you know? God loves you and I want you to let his LOVE pour out if you this Holiday season till it touches the life of someone else. check out this Holiday Guide I made, just for you.
